Medical, dental and vision benefits begin right away for the spouse and children of the military couple.
You’ll be eligible to receive (BAH) Basic Housing Allowance which offsets the cost of housing, that is, if there is no government provided housing. The BAH is dependent on the location, pay grade (rank of the spouse) and dependents. The cost of BAH is determined by average rental costs in the area where you or your spouse is stationed.

Up to $100,000 of coverage is afforded to the spouse of an active duty military member.
Among other programs, an non-enlisted spouse and their children can stay in government housing for one year or, alternatively, move to a private residence and receive one year of basic housing allowance.
